Is This What You Had In Mind?

Dick CheneyMany people on the left have been highly critical of those on the right for speaking out against President Obama. They seem to have forgotten their behavior over the course of the Bush Presidency, and all of the sudden they want people to look for the good in our President and overlook the bad. Well, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. Former Vice President Dick Cheney, in his first interview since undergoing major heart surgery, seemed rather kind to President Obama in talking about some of his policies. Here are some of the highlights as reported by The Hill from the NBC interview.

One Last Trip To Tucson

Lynne M. PaltrowI wanted to take one last look at the situation in Tucson before I move along to other things. Recently, an open letter to Sarah Palin has been circulating the web. It is written by Lynne M. Paltrow (pictured left) and it is in regards to Palin's "Take Back The 20" map that featured cross-hairs over the districts of Democrat Representatives that Palin believed were vulnerable. Many on the left are making the claim that this is what lead to the shooting in Arizona. In my "How To Hire A Hitman" article, I used sarcasm to show how ludicrous this idea really is. In Paltrow's open letter, she recognizes that it likely had nothing to do with the shootings, but she didn't stop there.

How To Hire A Hitman

Steve ParryI like to watch detective shows when I'm not driving (preferably) and my favorite are the reality ones. I've seen countless episodes of people trying to hire a hitman and it not working out so well for them. Thus, I know that if you want to hire someone to kill someone else, and you mention it to a friend, they will always refer you to "a guy they know". This guy will have a thick beard and a bad mullet. He will arrange a meet up in a low budget motel room. He will ask you a bunch of questions about how you want the job done like "You want it to look like an accident, right"? He will then take half the money up front right before the rest of the cops bust in from the other room and arrest you. This is not a good way to hire a hitman.

False Reports From AZ Shooting Investigated

Brain DiagramSome of the early reports that came out of this weekends tragic shooting in Arizona mistakenly identified Representative Giffords as one of the deceased as a result of the shooting. Later in the day, we learned that those reports were in error. I wanted to investigate this subject to see why this happened. Originally, I assumed that there was some type of breakdown in the way the reporting occurred. Certainly, a reporter had jumped the gun or made an assumption that turned out to be incorrect. What I found instead was actually quite surprising. There was a little more behind the false report than what initially appears on the surface. To understand why they got the story wrong, we must first understand how the story developed.

An Open Letter To GoDaddy

Steve ParryAs many of you may have noticed, there have been some major changes here at The Axis of Stevil Show (dot) Com. Perhaps the most noticeable is the fact that it is working. No long delays waiting for the server, no pages loading completely blank, no modules loading with every window open making the page a mile and a half long. I had been planning on making the change that fixed it in February when my GoDaddy hosting ran out. Yesterday, however, I lost all of my patience, and made the jump. I should have done it months ago when GoDaddy was hacked resulting in the crash of many Joomla sites across the web.

  • Watered Down Travel Ban

    Watered Down Travel Ban

I have some friends and family who supported President Trump from early on in the process. From time to time they will ask me when I will admit that I was wrong about him. "If Trump does x... If Trump gets y... If Trump supports a policy that results in z... will you admit that you were wrong?" My answer is always "no", because I wasn't wrong. To be clear, I could be wrong in practical application, but that isn't what an election is about. Elections are about theory and speculation and, generally speaking about judging records. Trump had no record to speak of, and his history of stances on issues was all over the map. I opposed his candidacy for several major reasons, all of which are proven valid in this single issue we now refer to as the "travel ban". Here were my reasons.

  • Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

    Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

If you're not familiar with Justice with Judge Jeanine, it is a show on the FOX News Network starring Jeanine Pirro. She is known for her over-the-top rants where she serves up gobs of fresh red meat for her largely hard right wing audience. While it's not unusual for her to be a little fast and loose with the facts, she has been known to occasionally return from the break with a correction from her producers. Last night, however, there was no such correction to an outright lie she told on the show, and the matter being discussed should have (at the very least) contained a disclaimer from the host. I would cut her some slack, but as a former prosecutor and judge, she should be well aware of what proper protocol should have been here.

  • Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

    Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

It's not cute anymore, Republicans. The President of the United States is completely detached from reality, and you can't fix that. You can't cover it up, you can't explain it away, and let me make this as clear as I possibly can for you. You cannot possibly undo the damage you are doing to the party brand by trying to pretend this man is anything other than completely unhinged. I'm watching Sean Hannity borrow guests from the Alex Jones show in an attempt to bolster Trump's conspiratorial claims. I'm seeing relatively mainstream conservatives make themselves look like the crazed fringes of the paranoid right wing. Don't believe me? Look at this.
