Protecting Cake From Gays

If the gays get cake, it's over folks.

Protecting Cake From Gays

It's days like this when I almost want to go Stephen Colbert on an article and pretend to support something absolutely ridiculous and make an equally ridiculous extremist case for my alleged view. To be entirely frank, I could do it with both sides in this case. I am speaking, of course, of the Indiana law which, amongst other things, has brought back the unfortunate saying that historically never was "Let them eat cake". The gays, of course. Because people are trying to keep the gays from eating cake? Well, not exactly. Because the gays are trying to turn bakers gay? No, not that either. The problem? We have businesses that want to act like 6 year olds and unfortunately, the gays are 5 1/2.

Jill Stanek Arrested, Republicans Attacked

More troubling attacks from the right.

Jill Stanek Arrested, Republicans Attacked

It seems like Republicans have to spend more time defending themselves from misleading and unwarranted attacks from the right than they do from the left anymore. The latest attack in this troubling trend comes from Right Wing News (dot) Com, which posted a short commentary on the arrest of several pro life demonstrators, including Jill Stanek.  The group was arrested earlier today (March 25th) and charged with charged with violating D.C. Code 22-1307. The story on RWN posted part of this story from Life Site News and included a link to the whole article, and included the following observations about the story.

The Birther Worm Has Turned

Is Ted Cruz a Natural Born Citizen?

The Birther Worm Has Turned

Let me start by making this perfectly clear. If you are a person who believes that President Obama is not a Natural Born United States Citizen, yet you are supporting Ted Cruz in his aspirations to become President, you are a fraud. I know, it's not nice to lay it out there like that, but I don't care about nice. I care about right and wrong, and the facts of the matter are what they are. To be clear, I am not a "Birther" but I do not believe that President Obama is a natural born United States citizen, nor do I believe that Ted Cruz is either. This is not a off handed, uneducated position either. I have read the thoughts of those who believe otherwise, but I disagree. My opinions are based in a Senate Resolution that we have that speaks to the matter in question.

SEC; 2014 And Still Overrated

Written by Steve Parry on Tuesday, 09 December 2014. Posted in Sports Hits 724

Before I had logic. Now I have proof.

SEC; 2014 And Still Overrated

We've heard it time and again. Find anyone who follows college football or listens to sports talk radio and ask them which conference is the best conference in College Football. Without a doubt, they will say "SEC". And if they don't? They will. much like myself, be branded a hater. Now to be clear, I am not going to lecture you about which conference is the best. While I personally would say the PAC 12 this year is the best, I'm not going to try to convince you of that. What I am going to do is absolutely destroy the logic behind the knee-jerk "SEC" answer, but this time with facts and numbers. The bottom line? The South Eastern Conference is not nearly as good as you think they are.

Oh, Those Magical Royals

Written by Steve Parry on Monday, 06 October 2014. Posted in Sports Hits 903

Who could bet against them?

It's that time of year again. Yes, the time where words like "pitching" and "hitting" get replaced with phrases like "they've got that magic" and "fairy dust". Last night at as I was watching the Royals cash in on that "magic" and finish off their sweep of the Angels I saw a sign in the stands that read "We have always believed. Now everyone else does." Cute sign. Realistic? No. After all, it was just a month ago that Royals Manager Ned Yost ripped into the Royals fans for not showing up to games. In fact, the Royals ranked 25th in the league in attendance this year. So no, you haven't always believed, Royals fans, and I don't believe now either. Magic and fairies can be fun. This is baseball.

How Donald Sterling Will Beat The NBA

Written by Steve Parry on Saturday, 17 May 2014. Posted in Sports Hits 2471

You can't beat my arguments.

First off, to be clear I am not a lawyer. I am an over the road truck driver. While this may make you want to be quick to dismiss my observations here, hear me out first. If at the end of the article you still want to dismiss me, feel free. If, however, this article leaves you thinking that I make some valid points, come back and read this first paragraph again. A truck driver, not a lawyer, came up with this. Donald Sterling will be represented by lawyers, not truckers. I'm willing to bet that they can do at least as good a job making a case for him as I am doing right here, and I would even go so far as to suggest that they might do better. Hard to imagine, I know, but it is possible.

NBA and Race Relations

Written by Steve Parry on Tuesday, 29 April 2014. Posted in Sports Hits 1501

Be afraid, be very afraid.

The verdict is in. Donald Sterling is banned from life from the NBA. He cannot run his team nor attend his (or any other NBA) games or any NBA meetings. Furthermore, new Commissioner Adam Silver has announced that the league owners will be meeting to vote on taking the Clippers away from Sterling. He also claims to have talked to a few of the owners and claims that he has the votes. Wait a second... I thought this guy was supposed to be a genius lawyer. Way to plead guilty to collusion before the deal is even done and open the door to the Sterling antitrust lawsuit that will allow him to keep his team. But I digress.

Donald Sterling is a racist, but...

Written by Steve Parry on Monday, 28 April 2014. Posted in Sports Hits 1237

Should he lose his team?

Yes, this is the topic of conversation for the day. Did you hear what Donald Sterling said to his girlfriend? He should lose his team. All over sports talk radio, and even into the mainstream sources, this is all I hear. What's my opinion on it? Sports talk show hosts are idiots. That's my opinion on the matter. I say this for two reasons. 1, these are guys whose very living depends on their ability to exercise free speech, yet they want a man to lose his livelihood for expressing an unpopular and undesirable opinion. Catch the irony here? But that aside, there is a much larger issue at hand. To be specific, I am speaking here to Evan Cohen, Steve Phillips, Dan Patrick, and Adam Schein. Would any of you hosts care to swim up from the bottom and deal with the real issue at hand here?

JFK Conspiracy Theories

Written by Steve Parry on Saturday, 23 November 2013. Posted in Politics Hits 1914

Sorry, no real debunk here.

JFK Conspiracy Theories

Two conspiracy theorists die and go to heaven. St. Peter tells them that Heaven is a place of all knowledge, so they can each ask him one question and he will reveal the answer to them. The first one says "Who killed John F. Kennedy?" St. Peter says "Lee Harvey Oswald." The other says "Who was he working with?" St. Peter says "He acted alone." The two of them look at each other and say "Wow! The coverup is bigger than we thought!" But seriously, what keeps this stuff going? Some would say the evidence. Other would say mental illness. I myself am unsure, and I have a hard time really focusing on this one as I didn't live through it. This article is pretty much a starting point for me and a note to self. Steve, debunk this one.

Defending Incognito

Written by Steve Parry on Sunday, 17 November 2013. Posted in Sports Hits 6692

Now there's a popular headline sure to get lots of likes and retweets.

Defending Incognito

As with any story, it is hard to say what happened unless you were there yourself. So why do I feel the need to post an article defending Richie Incognito? Because I can recognize a good snow job when I see one, and there is a blizzard coming from Jonathan Martin and company on this deal. Now to be fair, I am well aware that I am in the minority opinion on this one. Chances are if you are reading this you already have an opinion on this topic. Either I am preaching to the choir or I am dealing with a skeptic who wants to get a good chuckle at a brainwashed Dolphins fan defending the indefensible. So while I typically take the approach of building a good case, let me lay the best logical argument I have on you to kick this thing off.

Don't Drink The Tea

Written by Steve Parry on Tuesday, 06 August 2013. Posted in Politics Hits 3853

While they try to take over a party, they put a nation in peril.

Don't Drink The Tea

Scott Brown, Chris Christie, Marco Rubio, and Rick Snyder. What do these guys have in common? If you are a tea party member, then you already know the answer. Rick Snyder accepted the Medicare expansion for his state. Marco Rubio tried to tackle immigration reform. Scott Brown... who am I kidding? Like they need a reason? Heck, Chris Christie hugged Obama, let's throw him under the Tea Party Express. These are all candidates once endorsed by the Tea Party who have found themselves on the outs with the same group.  Now, with another midterm election looming around the corner, it appears Mitch McConnell has made the Tea Party Hit List as well. But before you guys get too far into this, would you kindly allow me to present you with some simple logic?

Black Suits and Knickerbockers

on Sunday, 05 May 2013. Posted in Sports Hits 11018

A bad idea, by any other name.

If you think political talk radio is a brutal place, you should try sports talk radio. In the world of news talk, you have a biased hosed with a political agenda attempting to spin current events to make you see them his way. In the world of sports talk, you largely have a field of minds so jammed with statistics and dates that they are unable to form a point of view on anything other than a simple Vegas line, let alone manage to try to find a way to spin the event for the mindless masses who tune it. This can make listening to channels like Mad Dog Radio on Sirius and XM Radio an exercise in frustration. Yet it is an exercise that I perform almost daily, and occasionally I call in to try to straighten some of these guys out. My latest beef? The New York Knicks.

Abortion: Leopards Vs Hyenas

Written by Steve Parry on Saturday, 27 April 2013. Posted in Politics Hits 34266

It's a fine line, and sometimes we forget about the Baboons.

One of the major drawbacks of being a blogger who has opinions that don't always fit the mainstream of either political party is that, after awhile, the party faithful tend to tune you out. Truth be told, I tend to get more responses from the left than from the right when I post my articles to facebook. On the issue of abortion, I am a guy who was once in the pro life political camp until my views evolved (politically, not personally) to pro choice. Yet I have long believed, ever since I knew there even was such an issue, that we should all be able to find some common ground on a child that has been born alive. That was, of course, before I knew about a State Senator from Illinois named Barack Obama and a doctor from Pennsylvania named Kermit Gosnell.

Global Warming & Trucking

Written by Steve Parry on Thursday, 11 April 2013. Posted in Say What? Hits 5523

Have you ever thought about it, and hoped the global warming people were right?

Don't get all political on me here, as I am taking a break from it with this post. I don't care what you think about global warming, and I know that a single weather event has little to do with overall climate, but did Colorado not get the freaking memo? It's April, people. Yes, I got caught up in the winter storm. Oh, we are naming those too now? Okay, I found Waldo, and he's a son of a... well, you get the picture. I went up 25 to Pueblo, fueled at the Loves, then shot across 50 to head out to Grand Junction. As you can see from the images in the gallery below, perhaps not the best idea I have ever had.

Banital: The Way Stupid People Don't Lose Weight

Written by Steve Parry on Thursday, 04 April 2013. Posted in Say What? Hits 22606

Don't get mad at me if you tried it. I'm just the messenger.

As an over-the-road trucker, I spend a lot of time driving and listening to Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Sometimes this is a good thing. I listen to a heck of a lot of news and talk radio, so one could say I get informed and misinformed all in the same place. Every now and then, however, I hear a commercial that drives me completely insane. Back when I was still doing the show, I went on an annoyance campaign against Rosetta Stone over a dangling participle in their "learn to speak a foreign language" ads, and eventually the ad was changed. Do I get the credit? In my own mind, perhaps. Well, enter the latest ad to annoy me. Perhaps you have heard or seen this ad for a weight loss product called Banital.
