Defending The Birthers

Leonard PittsLet me start off by making something perfectly clear here. In order to prove one's citizenship, the Federal Government requires "A certified birth certificate has a registrar's raised, embossed, impressed or multicolored seal, registrar's signature, and the date the certificate was filed with the registrar's office, which must be within 1 year of your birth. Please note, some short (abstract) versions of birth certificates may not be acceptable for passport purposes." Hence, in my opinion, anyone who has not seen a copy of President Obama's birth certificate, and was not present to witness his birth, yet professes to know where he was born, either here or abroad,  would be a "Birther". However, for this article, I will stick to the strict definition of those who believe he was not born in Hawaii.

Closet, you say?

Vice President Joe BidenFor those who have followed my blog or my show, it is no secret that I have adopted a Rush Limbaugh phrase and slightly modified it to fit my purposes. He may be on the cutting edge, but I am the crystal ball of societal evolution. Yet often with this administration, it is not just my predictions that come true. More often than that, it is my bizarre jokes that are intended to highlight the ridiculous actions of this amateur crew, and take them to a ridiculous level that even these guys would know better than. Right? Thus, when I mocked this administration being chosen for a transparency award with this bogus news article, I was simply making a joke of how secretive they really are. It was not intended to be a prediction when I said the following on March 17th.

NOW Defends Palin?

National Organization of WomenIn a positively bizarre turn of events, the National Organization for Women has issued a statement in regards to Bill Maher's comments directed towards Sarah Palin. The controversy started when Bill Maher said the following on his show. “Did you hear this – Sarah Palin finally heard what happened in Japan and she’s demanding that we invade ‘Tsunami,’. I mean she said, ‘These ‘Tsunamians’ will not get away with this.’ Oh speaking of dumb twats,..." Apparently, some on the right demanded that N.O.W. come to the defense of Sarah Palin, but they waited a few days before issuing this response.

Presidential Priorities

President Obama GolfingAfter doing last nights show, I set out on the road and drove all night listening to the radio and thinking about the points I made about President Obama's leisure activities. It seriously drives me nuts when my fellow conservatives attack the guy for playing golf. Understand that the President's job is beyond a full time job, it is an all the time job. There is no real vacation or free time for the man at the helm of the nation. What we call a Presidential vacation is more like one of those packages you win when you buy a vacuum cleaner from a door to door salesman, and have to sit in on 5 hours worth of sales pitches at a resort in exchange for an overnight trip. The man needs to be able to relax, and I frankly don't care about the style of it, the substance is just that. It is a moment that the President can only hope won't be interrupted by a meltdown in Japan or a bomb in Libya. When that is your day job, see if you don't take a round of golf where you can squeeze it in.

A Half Vast Left Wing Cover Up?

Keith EllisonI have never minded asking the tough questions, but sometimes I do wonder why it has to be me. Either way, it has to be, so here goes. Last week we had congressional hearings into the radicalization of Muslims in America, as I'm sure you all know. Representative Keith Ellison, from Minnesota's 5th district, gave an emotional testimony (okay, he cried like a girl) in opposition to the hearings. Brave? I suppose to some. Questionable? To me, yes. I think of things in a very practical way. What might possibly come of these hearings? It is likely that we will either discover that there is a problem of U.S. Muslims being radicalized, or that there is not a problem and the while issue has been over-blown. Hence, I wonder why a Muslim would protest this. Assuming that it is a religion of peace and love, and that the vast majority of it's members practice this religion in such a manner, wouldn't they want the hearings to get the truth out?

  • Watered Down Travel Ban

    Watered Down Travel Ban

I have some friends and family who supported President Trump from early on in the process. From time to time they will ask me when I will admit that I was wrong about him. "If Trump does x... If Trump gets y... If Trump supports a policy that results in z... will you admit that you were wrong?" My answer is always "no", because I wasn't wrong. To be clear, I could be wrong in practical application, but that isn't what an election is about. Elections are about theory and speculation and, generally speaking about judging records. Trump had no record to speak of, and his history of stances on issues was all over the map. I opposed his candidacy for several major reasons, all of which are proven valid in this single issue we now refer to as the "travel ban". Here were my reasons.

  • Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

    Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

If you're not familiar with Justice with Judge Jeanine, it is a show on the FOX News Network starring Jeanine Pirro. She is known for her over-the-top rants where she serves up gobs of fresh red meat for her largely hard right wing audience. While it's not unusual for her to be a little fast and loose with the facts, she has been known to occasionally return from the break with a correction from her producers. Last night, however, there was no such correction to an outright lie she told on the show, and the matter being discussed should have (at the very least) contained a disclaimer from the host. I would cut her some slack, but as a former prosecutor and judge, she should be well aware of what proper protocol should have been here.

  • Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

    Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

It's not cute anymore, Republicans. The President of the United States is completely detached from reality, and you can't fix that. You can't cover it up, you can't explain it away, and let me make this as clear as I possibly can for you. You cannot possibly undo the damage you are doing to the party brand by trying to pretend this man is anything other than completely unhinged. I'm watching Sean Hannity borrow guests from the Alex Jones show in an attempt to bolster Trump's conspiratorial claims. I'm seeing relatively mainstream conservatives make themselves look like the crazed fringes of the paranoid right wing. Don't believe me? Look at this.
