Where did this guy come from?
I'm not sure what President Trump hoped to accomplish in his speech last night, but if it was to look Presidential he totally nailed it. Wow! Where did this guy come from. It's as if the crazy old man who lives next door and yells "get off my lawn" at neighborhood kids as they pass by woke up one morning and instead offers a calm, well worded explanation of personal property rights and the stresses placed on low growing vegetation by excessive foot traffic. We can and will have our disagreements on a lot of things, but I tip my hat to President Trump today. He appeared calm, collected, and in control, and these are three things that had alluded him for quite some time.

Will it really happen?
Saturday morning a friend of mine on Facebook was talking about how President Trump was keeping all of his promises. He brought up the Keystone Pipeline. It was interesting to me because I heard a Trump surrogate on CNN talking about how Trump was keeping all of his promises, and she too brought up the Keystone Pipeline. Now understand that at this point it would be silly for me to say that he hasn't kept his promise because the pipes aren't in the ground with oil flowing through them. This caused me to wonder if Trump's supporters actually know what he has done on the pipeline, because if they did they should see that it's equally silly to claim that Trump has kept his promise on that subject. First, let's look at some of the language in the executive order that he signed on the subject.

We can't handle the truth.
Chris Kyle was a Navy SeAL and an American hero. He was known as America's deadliest sniper. His 150 plus kills landed him 2 Silver Starts and 5 Bronze Medals. His longest confirmed kill was a shot that traveled 2,100 yards to it's target, an insurgent holding a rocket launcher. Chris returned home to (reportedly, less I be sued by the former wrestler turned complete fruitcake) punch out Jim Janos who is better known as Jesse Ventura. If he hadn't already been a hero, he would have become one in my book at that time. He also wrote his autobiography which quickly became a bestseller, and spent a lot of his time trying to help troops who had returned from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD and other mental health issues. Yesterday, Chris Kyle was shot dead by one of those men.

It might not be as crazy as you think it is.
A friend of mine posted the video at the bottom of this article to her facebook page and I found it a bit surprising that we are locking special needs kids in rooms with padded walls in our public schools. It just doesn't sound right to me, and based on most reactions I'm guessing you probably agree. However, hearing the school's side of the story I don't think it is quite as bad as it seems. You can get both legitimate sides of the story here, or you can get my take on the issue in the video below. I found some of the things the mother being interviewed said to be a bit odd, so I figured it was time for another Stevil Rant.

It looks like Steve Parry has known what he was talking about all along.
After the recent election, some of my friends on Facebook who supported President Obama bristled at my commentary on what we had observed. I even had one tell me that I was a "sore loser" when a discussion of Government phones saw these devices labeled as "Obama Berry" and I replied that such a device obviously wasn't a "smart phone." Now obviously, some of my comments were in jest. Others, such as the collective IQ of those who supported the President's reelection were not. Think about it. In the first election, then Senator Obama ran against a Government that failed because of the President. In round 2, President Obama ran against a Government that failed because of the Congress. Yea, it's personal now.
It seems like forever ago. We are a long political election season and a re-election for President Obama removed from when I first noted that the Twinkie was under attack by the First Lady, but nearly 3 years later Michelle Obama can declare victory over the American icon. Today, Hostess Brands announced that they will shut down all operations and sell their assets. They were unable to reach an agreement with the Bakers Union which was on strike, so officially, the parasite has consumed the host. Yes, I'm being a bit facesious blaming this on the First Lady but then again, aren't these her people and didn't I call this?

Trying to get my Suburban back on the road.
Those of you who know me personally know that awhile back I bought a 1997 Suburban. It had a few problems, but I got a hell of a deal on it and I figured I could get them fixed and still come in under the Blue Book on it. The biggest problem seemed to be the transmission, so I took it in to get it checked out. The shop calls me back after they look at it and tells me he flushed the transmission and it seems to be doing fine now. $80 and it's fixed? Too good to be true, right? You guessed it. A week later she's back at the shop.

The Marine who went to war.
On this Memorial Day, I wanted to honor the memory of one of the great Marines who has gone before us and set the mark that those who follow try our best to live up to. To many people who see the Iwo Jima monument, it is an iconic picture of America at war. To Marines, it is a reminder of one of our great accomplishments in battle. To the Marines that were there that day, it was an inspiration to keep fighting a battle that at times seemed unwinable. To Ira Hayes, it was a snapshot of a moment in time with his "good buddies," some of which would never walk off of that miserable island.
