Facebook and Taxation

Sometimes it is hard to figure out who the real jerks are.

Facebook and Taxation

If you ever played a game of basketball with your friends as a kid, then you probably know both of these jerks. You've got the guy who thinks that everything that happens to him is a foul, but he never fouls anyone else and the guy who gets sick of it so he takes his ball and goes home. The kid who always thinks he got fouled never considers it to be his fault that the other guy took his ball and went home, and the kid who went home didn't consider the other kids who had to deal with the jerk and are now left standing around on a basketball court with no ball looking for something else to do. But what in the world does any of this have to do with facebook and taxation?

Should Mexico Free Detained Trucker?

The interesting case of Jabin Bogan

Should Mexico Free Detained Trucker?

I'm not sure how far this story has traveled outside of the trucking arena, so for those of you who may not be familiar with the story here are the basics. Jabin Bogan is an American truck driver who had a load of ammunition delivering at multiple stops in the southwest. While traveling from one stop to the next, he crossed the border into Mexico where he was arrested and is still being detained by Mexican authorities. The accusation being made is that he was smuggling the ammunition into their Country, and his defense is that he was simply trying to get to his next delivery and he took a wrong turn. Now one would probably guess that this is a story that would fall along Country lines, right? If you are a Mexican, than perhaps this "simple mistake" might not seem so innocent and if you are an American, you might see Bogan as a political prisoner of some sort. Nice thought, but this case is not so simple.

Time For Sharpton To Retire

All good things must come to an end.

Time For Sharpton To Retire

How old is Al Sharpton now anyway? Not that there is some magical age at which someone should be forced into retirement or anything, but Al is at that point. I am talking, of course, about his speech in Sanford Florida in response to the killing of Trayvon Martin, a 17 year old kid who went out to buy a pack of skittles and an iced tea who was then shot by a community watch member in their neighborhood. I'm not on a side here, and I don't pretend to know who was right and who was wrong. But when it comes to the words of Al Sharpton, one would never have been able to guess which side he was on if you hadn't been told.

The Joe Paterno Scandal Show

After much waiting and anticipation...

The Joe Paterno Scandal Show

Yes, the Axis of Stevil show comes back on the air, and we do it big time with this episode for your listening pleasure. After a brief bout with the crazy news of the week, I go into a detailed summary of what is going on at Penn State. Using the Grand Jury Report and applying simple logic, I question if Mike McQueary is telling the truth. I address the angry mobs who demanded Paterno's head, and even question what effect they are having on the case. I will detail my logic below, and you can follow along as you listen to The Axis of Stevil Show.

Hot off the press.

    Watered Down Travel Ban

I have some friends and family who supported President Trump from early on in the process. From time to time they will ask me when I will admit that I was wrong about him. "If Trump does x... If Trump gets y... If Trump supports a policy that results in z... will you admit that you were wrong?" My answer is always "no", because I wasn't wrong. To be clear, I could be wrong in practical application, but that isn't what an election is about. Elections are about theory and speculation and, generally speaking about judging records. Trump had no record to speak of, and his history of stances on issues was all over the map. I opposed his candidacy for several major reasons, all of which are proven valid in this single issue we now refer to as the "travel ban". Here were my reasons.

  • Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

    Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

If you're not familiar with Justice with Judge Jeanine, it is a show on the FOX News Network starring Jeanine Pirro. She is known for her over-the-top rants where she serves up gobs of fresh red meat for her largely hard right wing audience. While it's not unusual for her to be a little fast and loose with the facts, she has been known to occasionally return from the break with a correction from her producers. Last night, however, there was no such correction to an outright lie she told on the show, and the matter being discussed should have (at the very least) contained a disclaimer from the host. I would cut her some slack, but as a former prosecutor and judge, she should be well aware of what proper protocol should have been here.

  • Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

    Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

It's not cute anymore, Republicans. The President of the United States is completely detached from reality, and you can't fix that. You can't cover it up, you can't explain it away, and let me make this as clear as I possibly can for you. You cannot possibly undo the damage you are doing to the party brand by trying to pretend this man is anything other than completely unhinged. I'm watching Sean Hannity borrow guests from the Alex Jones show in an attempt to bolster Trump's conspiratorial claims. I'm seeing relatively mainstream conservatives make themselves look like the crazed fringes of the paranoid right wing. Don't believe me? Look at this.
