I Stand Corrected

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThYvmz9KgGc
Sometimes these people really make me scratch my head. Wasn't I just saying that it was unreasonable to criticize the Obama Administration for this Gulf Oil Spill? Apparently, my gesture was unwanted and unneeded. Right on the heels of that, here comes the Obama Admin wanting to take full responsibility.

Excuse me, but have you guys been paying any attention at all over there? You do realize that this is a complete and utter disaster, right President Obama? Why in the heck would someone who has plausible deniability actually want to take credit for this mess? They were on the right track last week when they pointed out that the Feds don't have better equipment or technology than does BP. This is, after all, BP's spill and hence responsibility. It is furthermore their mess to clean up.

Does Obama Hate This Thing Too?

Even Nancy Pelosi gets it. Well, not really, but she understands that it is a bad thing to own this mess. So what does she do? The only thing these guys know how to do. She blames Bush.

“We're talking about eight years of the Bush administration, and many of the people appointed in the Bush administration are still burrowed in the agencies that are supposed to oversee the industry,”

Seriously, Nancy? You can't possibly be that stupid. Sure, there's a lot of evidence against you, but if you were there would be a kid standing beside you with a drool rag at the ready. Yet even this neon sign of intellectual vacancy understands that one doesn't want to be tagged with the blame for this mess. So what in the heck is President Obama thinking here? How can he let Carol Browner run around begging credit for this debacle?

President Obama's director of the White House Office of Energy and Climate Change Policy says the White House calls the shots when it comes to the care and clean up of the Gulf oil spill. "Make no mistake about it, the government is in charge. BP comes to the government and gets permission to take the steps they take," Carol Browner told Fox & Friends anchor Steve Doocy during an interview Tuesday.

Well, Mr. President, let me apologize then. You want it? You got it. I stand corrected. I guess the President does hate those fluffy little birds that are getting soaked in oil. I'm sorry that I tried to be reasonable and blame the people actually behind the accident and cleanup process when clearly, Sir, it is all your fault. I now recognize your great wrath at the fishermen in New Orleans, and stand in awe of all you have done to destroy their livelihoods. I would like to complicate the way you were able to see the true evil in the marsh lands and obliterate them with your swift and sure destruction. And what the heck is that creature pictured above? I don't know, but he's ugly, and I want to thank you for your noble attempt at eradicating him and his kind from the planet. This world will be a much better place for all the wonderful things you have accomplished down there in the Gulf of Mexico. Now I still think that it was a bit over the top killing those 11 workers, but hey, who am I to question? I did it once before, and clearly I was wrong. I'm sorry.

Many have criticized the President for his golfing and vacationing during this crisis, but one thing is as clear as the plastic nose on Nancy Pelosi's face. In this White House, stupid never takes a day off.

    Watered Down Travel Ban

I have some friends and family who supported President Trump from early on in the process. From time to time they will ask me when I will admit that I was wrong about him. "If Trump does x... If Trump gets y... If Trump supports a policy that results in z... will you admit that you were wrong?" My answer is always "no", because I wasn't wrong. To be clear, I could be wrong in practical application, but that isn't what an election is about. Elections are about theory and speculation and, generally speaking about judging records. Trump had no record to speak of, and his history of stances on issues was all over the map. I opposed his candidacy for several major reasons, all of which are proven valid in this single issue we now refer to as the "travel ban". Here were my reasons.

    Fraudulent Rant by Judge Jeanine

If you're not familiar with Justice with Judge Jeanine, it is a show on the FOX News Network starring Jeanine Pirro. She is known for her over-the-top rants where she serves up gobs of fresh red meat for her largely hard right wing audience. While it's not unusual for her to be a little fast and loose with the facts, she has been known to occasionally return from the break with a correction from her producers. Last night, however, there was no such correction to an outright lie she told on the show, and the matter being discussed should have (at the very least) contained a disclaimer from the host. I would cut her some slack, but as a former prosecutor and judge, she should be well aware of what proper protocol should have been here.

    Wake The Hell Up, GOP!

It's not cute anymore, Republicans. The President of the United States is completely detached from reality, and you can't fix that. You can't cover it up, you can't explain it away, and let me make this as clear as I possibly can for you. You cannot possibly undo the damage you are doing to the party brand by trying to pretend this man is anything other than completely unhinged. I'm watching Sean Hannity borrow guests from the Alex Jones show in an attempt to bolster Trump's conspiratorial claims. I'm seeing relatively mainstream conservatives make themselves look like the crazed fringes of the paranoid right wing. Don't believe me? Look at this.
