Another Barack In The Wall
In case you have been in a coma or living under a rock and failed to notice, Barack Obama has wrapped up his World Tour 2008 and returned to the U.S. What started as a “whisper in Springfield” in an attempt to draw comparisons to Abraham Lincoln has grown into a speech in Berlin in an attempt to draw comparisons to Reagan. The always complicit left-wing media was more than happy to oblige. Standing in front of the victory arch, which was erected by the Germans to celebrate conquest in war, the anti-war candidate delivered one heck of a speech. Now perhaps you missed the speech for the very same reason that I did. You see, having recently been scolded by Barack for not learning a foreign language, and having learned how embarrassed he is of Americans who travel abroad and can’t speak the languages of the locals, I assumed he would deliver the speech in German. Silly me. He didn’t. It was in English. But since I didn’t see it live, I decided to grab the transcript and give it a read and point out the highlights. Here are some quotes I wanted to point out.
People of the world - look at Berlin, where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one.
When you, the German people, tore down that wall - a wall that divided East and West; freedom and tyranny; fear and hope - walls came tumbling down around the world. From Kiev to Cape Town, prison camps were closed, and the doors of democracy were opened. Markets opened too, and the spread of information and technology reduced barriers to opportunity and prosperity. While the 20th century taught us that we share a common destiny, the 21st has revealed a world more intertwined than at any time in human history.
The fall of the Berlin Wall brought new hope.
That is why we cannot afford to be divided. No one nation, no matter how large or powerful, can defeat such challenges alone. None of us can deny these threats, or escape responsibility in meeting them. Yet, in the absence of Soviet tanks and a terrible wall, it has become easy to forget this truth.
That is why the greatest danger of all is to allow new walls to divide us from one another.
The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand.
I could go on with more wall quotes, I choose not to. I’m sure many of you are wondering what my point is anyway. I was just curious. If walls are terrible, and the greatest danger of all is for us to allow new ones to be built, then why did Barack Obama vote yes on HR6061, the Secure Fence Act of 2006? Why did he participate in an act that he has now deemed to be the greatest danger for all of us? And since it’s the “greatest danger”, why are we just now hearing about it? Here I have been distracted by lesser dangers, like terrorism, economic struggles, and healthcare while all the while, the “greatest danger” known to man was being erected in my very back yard with the sanction and blessing of Obama himself. And of course, unaware that it was such a great danger, I supported it! But now, having been informed of the gravity of the situation, there is only one possible course of action for us to take. Mr. Obama, tear down this fence!
Seriously, could there be any greater level of hypocrisy? And McCain, where are you on this one good sir? While you run adds to point out how he blew off the troops, could you kindly step back to reality for one moment? Obama, and most who intend to vote for him, are anti-war and largely disdain the military! How many votes do you suppose you will sway by pointing out that he did what is expected of him by many of his supporters? The true measure of the disgrace of this man is found here in his blatant hypocrisy. To build a division between one of the wealthiest nations in the world, the United States, and one of the poorest in Mexico, then say that such a wall cannot stand is just one small example of the disconnect between the policies and the mouth of Barack Obama. To pass on this point in favor of the obvious is grossly incompetent.
