McCain Nails The Tea Party
As the war over the debt crisis wages on, tempers are beginning to flare. Today, John McCain blasted the Tea Party on the floor of the United States Senate. I suppose at this point I should do the obligatory hat tip to the Tea Party and point out that they are not a party, they just call themselves that. They are actually just an organization that has no official organization. And while they have no leader, they have no shortage of people called leaders who can go on FOX News and point out that they are not leaders before they give you the official stance of the party that isn't a party. Did I get that right, Tea Party? Anyhow, as anyone who has listened to my show for more than ten minutes or read many of my articles would know, I am no John McCain fan. However, what he said today needed to be said. Here it is.
"The idea seems to be that if the House GOP refuses to raise the debt ceiling, a default crisis or gradual government shutdown will ensue and the public will turn en masse against Barack Obama....Then Democrats would have no choice but to pass a balanced budget amendment and reform entitlements, and the tea party hobbits could return to Middle-earth...This is the kind of crack political thinking that turned Sharron Angle and Christine O'Donnell into GOP nominees. The reality is the debt limit will be raised one way or another."
Amen, brother. Now shut up and go back to Arizona. I'll take it from here.
I'm sick and damn tired of hearing this incessant nonsense about "We sent them to D.C. to do a job". Enough already! You can't send one fire engine to a three alarm blaze and expect the fire to be out in ten minutes. You are turning into the right-wing entitlement class, Tea Party, and it sickens me. You are entitled to nothing more than your actions bought you.
Remember when Nancy Pelosi said that "elections have consequences" and you turned that into your 2010 rallying cry? Well, my friends, elections do have consequences. As Jim Demint famously pointed out, he would rather lose with a Conservative than win with a Republican In Name Only (RINO). Mark Levin echoed that sentiment on his show. So what's the problem, guys? Is this not what you wanted? Is this not what you had in mind?
When the Tea Party adopted this stance and nominated that moron Christine O'Donnell in Delaware, they gambled away a 20 point lead in the polls and landed themselves a 15 point deficit overnight. Now they have the audacity to complain about the mess that this idiotic move made? Get out of here! But at least Castle was a RINO. What the heck was wrong with Danny Tarkanian? Yes, Tea Party, it was your ridiculous decision to go with Sharron Angle that is most likely responsible for Harry Reid still being there, let alone being Majority Leader or even in the majority.
This isn't the left speaking to you, Tea Party. This is a guy much closer to where you stand than John McCain is, I can promise you that. I have 400 plus articles here on this blog to back that up. I have video from a Tea Party rally on my youtube page. So take this as some chastisement from a brother, not scorn from an enemy.
Elections have consequences. How dare you complain about what the ones you "sent there to do a job" are trying to accomplish, when the ones you knew couldn't win and ran anyway are the very reason we are even having to talk to Obama in the first place. Four of the Five seats you guys pushed away would mean a Republican majority could force a vote on anything it wanted. Losing with a conservative is sexy on election night, but it is a bitter pill to swallow for the next two years. So stop the complaining, and learn from your mistake. There is a 3 alarm blaze in Wahington D.C., and we need at least two engines there before we can put it out.
