~What Does Racial Profiling Mean To You?~
Racial Profiling: Definition
"Racial Profiling" refers to the discriminatory practice by law enforcement officials of targeting individuals for suspicion of crime based on the individual's race, ethnicity, religion or national origin. Criminal profiling, generally, as practiced by police, is the reliance on a group of characteristics they believe to be associated with crime. Examples of racial profiling are the use of race to determine which drivers to stop for minor traffic violations (commonly referred to as "driving while black or brown"), or the use of race to determine which pedestrians to search for illegal contraband.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker That's interesting. The angle that doesn't fit the definition would be profiling for the "wrong" race in the "wrong" hood. Race is going to come into profiling in many situations, but there is a difference between that and racial profiling. The problem is when groups or individuals blur the line to try to make race as a part of profiling bad. It is true it makes no sense to treat all Middle Easterners as terrorists. But it also makes no sense to ignore the ethnicity of the same people altogether when it comes to stopping terrorism in certain situations.
