Orrin Hatch's New Urgent Agenda

As many of you know, we are facing many pressing problems in our Country today. With our financial problems, Government expansion, skyrocketing debt, and ever weakening dollar, I am sure you will be comforted to know that there is a leader ready to attack the issues head on. Yes, dear Conservative, there is a Republican out there who feels your pain and is ready to fix your problems. And the best news is... he's starting out by taking on the most pressing issue threatening to destroy your life. Ladies and Gentlemen, rest easy tonight knowing the Utah Senator Orrin Hatch is prepared to take on...

The NCAA Bowl Championship Series?!?!?

In the "you can't make this stuff up" category, Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah has written a letter to President Obama asking the Federal Government to unleash the hounds on the colleges of America to investigate the way they chose their football champions. Let the anti trust probe begin. One doesn't need to read too much of the article to see where Senator Hatch's beef comes from.

Under the BCS system, some athletic conferences get automatic bids to participate in top-tier bowl games while others don't, and the automatic bid conferences also get far more of the revenue. Hatch's home state school, the University of Utah, is from the Mountain West Conference, which does not get an automatic bid. The school qualified for a bid last season but was bypassed for the national championship despite going undefeated.

Let this be a lesson to the NCAA.  As a matter of fact, let this be a lesson to all of us. Hey insurance companies, you think you can go along with Obama Care and The State will cut you a break later? Hey News Networks, you think if you stand down and let Obama go after FOX you will find Government favor later? Think again. You see, the NCAA has already bent over backwards to work with the Feds, and more specifically, Orrin Hatch's beloved University of Utah. Many schools across the country have had to change their names to fall into the NCAA politically correct guidelines that banned schools who used Native American names or mascots from competing in championship level events. So serious was the NCAA about these guidelines that even St. Johns University, who's name Redmen referenced the color of the uniforms the school wears, had to change their name to the "Red Storm" because the NCAA perceived the old name to be insensitive to Native Americans. Yet when it came to the University of Utah, who's team name and mascot are taken from the Northern Ute Tribe of Indians, the name change was appealed and over-ruled.

"The NCAA Executive Committee continues to believe the stereotyping of Native Americans is wrong," the organization said in a statement. "In its review of the particular circumstances regarding Central Michigan University and the University of Utah, the NCAA staff review committee noted the relationship between the universities and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan and the Northern Ute Indian Tribe, respectively, as a significant factor."

Now, let's not get into the hypocrisy of a team that is named after American Indians getting a waiver while a team that isn't does not. Furthermore, let's ignore the irony of this order being handed down from the NCAA Headquarters in INDIANapolis INDIANa. Let's just stick to the fact that the NCAA bent over backwards to keep Senator Hatch's school from having to abide by the rules that affect everybody else, yet they still find themselves in his scope.

All that having been said, couldn't Senator Hatch find something better to worry about right now?  The President and his party are trying in the process of bankrupting this country, taking over private industries left and right, and sticking the next generation with the bill. They are moving to make criminals out of people don't have insurance, they are totally blowing off our troops who are begging for held in Afghanistan, and they are trying to prosecute intelligence officials who were doing their level best to keep this country safe. And Orrin Hatch is worried about football games. Great job Orrin. Maybe when you wrap this up you can find some other important issue to donate your time to, like maybe $30 million for a turtle tunnel?
