Heather Kamp - Judge Orders A Mental Evaluation

On February 2, 2010, Heather Kamp was indicted for murder by a grand jury in Charleston, SC. Her boyfriend Ethan C. Mack was also indicted based on witnesses that came forward with information according to the Post and Courier. Due to the indictments, the gag order was lifted.

http://www.postandcourier.com/news/2010/feb/03/2-indicted-on-murder-charges/

Mack's attorney filed a motion in November seeking to split his trial from Kamp's, alleging that she had made incriminating statements against herself and Mack.

The incriminating statements are unknown at this time. However, due to Kamp’s history and other accusations made against her. Judge Thomas Hughston ordered Kamp to submit to an evaluation by the state Department of Mental Health to determine whether she is competent to stand trial.

The judge's order states that Kamp "has a history of mental health issues" that could affect her competency and ability to assist in her own defense. Her court file does not contain the results of that evaluation.

The witnesses who came forth are still unnamed, but had compelling stories implicating them both for the homicide of Waring.

Kate Waring went missing June 12, 2009, (exactly 8 months ago today) the last place she was seen was at the Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse in Charleston, SC and later her skeletal remains were found by private investigators on Wadmalaw Island in SC on October 10, 2009.

Although no cause of death has been determined, witnesses have convinced authorities that Waring's death was a homicide, 9th Circuit Solicitor Scarlet Wilson said.

"the death was a "slow process" that took time, involving multiple means of assault. Waring was reportedly conscious and aware of most of what was happening. Wilson also said the "overwhelming" motive in the case would be financial gain, but "other threads" played a role, including jealousy on Kamp's part."

Shortly before Tuesday's news conference, a third suspect in the case, Terry Keith Williams, 31, of James Island, appeared before Magistrate James Gosnell, who reduced his bail on obstruction charges from $200,000 to $20,000, court records show. Prosecutors consented to the move.

Williams will be under house arrest upon his release and must report to his probation officer weekly.

A police affidavit stated that Williams is accused of helping to move Waring's body and then lying to police about how he ended up with her iPod. A witness told police that Williams received the iPod for helping Mack move her body, the affidavit stated.

The belief is that “the slow process” would have put Waring’s death on June 13, 2009. Because the body had to be moved, it is easy to speculate that the murder occurred in a place was likely familiar to the accused killers. A place that was private enough to keep them from being caught while committing these “multiple means of assault”.

Authorities allege that both suspects gave false statements about events on the night Waring was last seen, and that they forged checks drawn on Waring's account.

Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen said investigators know of three checks the pair allegedly tried to cash after Waring's death, including one for $4,500.

Wilson would not discuss the witnesses or the specifics of what they told authorities. She did say no deals had been cut in return for their testimony.

After all these months of uncertainty it can be said that there were many sighs of relief when any type of indictment came forth.

The lifting of the gag order gave the public and media the chance to find new pieces of information and it was long overdue.

There are a few points that can be made with a charge of this type. Mainly, if a murder is committed and there were “multiple means of assault” there must be some type of DNA evidence that can be found.

A DNA trail can prove or disprove where a crime was committed. Readmore Mobile

Because some DNA evidence can be destroyed, it does not mean that all traces will be completely erased.

In regards to Heather Kamp’s mental state, the question of “competency” in legal terms requires an evaluation that establishes whether or not a person is capable of three things.

The first of the three is whether or not the person can UNDERSTAND or DENY the charges they are charged with.

They must be able to report the FACTS regarding their behavior in the crime.

The second answer that must be answered is whether or not the person can COOPERATE with his or her lawyer and ASSIST in their own defense.

Finally, the third answer is whether or not the defendant can UNDERSTAND COURT PROCEEDINGS

IF they cannot perform ANY of these things, they can be found incompetent to stand trial.

In our justice system, a person found incompetent cannot be put on trial. That does not mean they open the doors and say, “Good Luck.” It will likely mean being committed to a Mental Institution until they can stand trial.

If there is no progress, they can be held for much longer than simple “treatment.” The treatment may be for a short time and it is for purpose of getting them prepared to stand trial or it could be that they are too ill to go before a jury and a new hearing will be recommended. In these situations, they will become patients for an unspecified amount of time until determined by a judge.

People in general are known for over simplifying things. Most people feel comfortable stereotyping because it gives order to things they can understand. To put people in categories like; “good”, “bad”, “evil”, “crazy”, “nice” etc. It gives others the sense of order they need to feel comfortable with the things around them. It makes the world seem smaller and easier to manage.

When crimes are committed, it isn’t uncommon for people to want to know their motivation and to know what is wrong with that person. Using the word “Wrong” is translated into, “What IS their major malfunction?” And if they walk among us, are there others that we should be watching more closely?

Considering all of the psychological terms that have been mentioned in connection to Heather Kamp, a few of them are worth a closer look. Terms for disorders used in the correct way can help identify people with mental illness.

However, there are other terms such as the word, “crazy.” That does not meet a psychological standard. The word “crazy” has a universal meaning for the general public. The word “insane” is the same way. In a nonprofessional’s term this may be a more comfortable word for the general public to use, but it over simplifies something that requires deeper thought.

Heather Kamp has been called a Pathological Liar. What is the exact definition of this word and is a clinical term? http://www.ehow.co.uk/about_5398761_pathological-liar-symptoms.html

You may be surprised to know that the term "Pathological Liar" is not in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. That means it is NOT actually a mental diagnosis, but rather a term to describe a person behavioral traits. There are types of liars. For example, there are “compulsive liars” also known as habitual liars. These types of liars are known for lying about every little thing and the lies are typically pointless. The difference is the reason they lie. A compulsive liar has no motivation or gain for lying. It is just something they do for no apparent reason.

The pathological liar on the other hand is a completely different “breed.” They lie for reasons. They lie to get ahead, to manipulate, to gain respect, to deceive for personal gain. They WILL lie without regard for other people's needs or feelings, many times sacrificing their friends and family members for their own good.

They may become aggressive when cornered and confronted about their lies, and often respond defensively to intense questioning. They can become angry and even violent.

It is often difficult to identify pathological liars at a first meeting, but the symptoms become clear once you get to know them. Most pathological liars have a narcissistic attitude. They will lie even when the lies are transparent and they will stick to their lies even when they are confronted with evidence of their treachery. Often their lies will be dramatic and unbelievable but they will continue the lie.

Not only do Pathological liars have detrimental effects on their own immediate circle of family, friends, and colleagues, they will also bring harm to anyone they come in contact with. Their lies are self-serving so they are most likely to bring other people down with them, particularly if they are caught in a serious lie.

They are more likely to blame someone else for a situation than to take responsibility.

It is important to realize whom you are dealing with. You cannot trust a pathological liar to tell you the truth about anything. It should be known that they have no loyalty and their lies will incorporate anyone or anything around them.

I suggest you Google or Yahoo the term for more definitions, just as I have. I also donated several days to reading several books on psychology. The library is full of simple to read “starter” books that can help get you more acquainted with basic psychologically. If you have a true passion for learning new things, I suggest you try one of them.

Other terms that have been used to define Heather Kamp’s traits are “psychotic” and “bipolar.” It should be noted that pathological liars usually have other major mental disorders and that the pathological lying is just one of many of their other traits.

The most commonly observed disorders with criminal tendencies are the Psychopaths. Not all psychopaths are criminals; however, they have the highest convictions of all the other major mental disorders.

Because psychopaths have so many definitions, I am going to use Robert Hare’s comprehensive list that outlines the most common traits of a psychopath. I should also mention that psychopaths have the most diverse convictions in all types of crimes. The crimes linked to them include kidnapping, arson, tax evasion, murder, forgery, and fraud.

These are only a few of the things they are capable of and this is not a complete list.

Hare’s list for common traits of a psychopath includes:

  • Superficial charm
  • Callousness
  • Lack of empathy
  • Parasitic lifestyles (living off others)
  • Prone to boredom (a need for stimulation)
  • Poor behavior control
  • Pathological lying
  • Promiscuous sexual behavior
  • Manipulation
  • Conning
  • Early behavior problems
  • Lack of remorse
  • Lack of guilt
  • Failure to accept personal responsibility
  • Shallow emotions (no true deep feelings for anyone or anything)
  • Lack of realistic goals
  • Impulsivity
  • Irresponsibility
  • Criminal versatility

There are two major “hallmarks” for the psychopath and they are their ability to be smooth in presentation and charm.

They are not usually embarrassed easily and they have a tendency to be calm in social settings. They often come across as being full of themselves because of their grandiosity and they see others as inferior.

They will often brag about how much smarter, better looking and more talented than others. Their egos lead them to believe that they are better at most things compared to others.

That view of the world, themselves, and other is what makes them see others as easy prey. They will cheat and manipulate to get whatever it is that they want. Psychopaths carry out these behaviors with no empathy or sympathy for the person that they are doing wrong.

Psychopaths do not feel remorseful or guilty. They find ways around it internally by not seeing it as harmful or because it is necessary to their greater good. They do not feel as though they have to answer for their actions.

They often view things as if the victim had not been weak they would not have been a victim at all. (Survival of the fittest mentality) However, psychopaths are not oblivious to what society expects from them. They may not feel remorse, but they are very capable of faking emotions.

They are skillful at manipulating others into believing them.

They are known for their ability to con and they are skilled at deception. They are extremely ruthless and capable of an unlimited number of crimes.

Bipolar Disorder (Manic Depression)

Bipolar disorder is generally recognized as a disorder of severe mood swings involving both depression and mania. Mania is a state of excessively elevated or irritable mood lasting for approximately one week and co-occurring with the following symptoms:

·        Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity

·        Decreased need for sleep

·        Extreme need to talk

·        Racing thoughts

·        Short attention span

·        Drastically increased activity level

·        Excessive engagement in activities involving pleasurable activities that have the potential to harm them

Someone showing signs of these symptoms aren’t bipolar for just one or two of these symptoms. Separately they can indicate other conditions or nothing at all.

We can find ourselves relating to one of them at least once in our life. Who hasn’t felt the need for decreased sleep at least once? The difference is that these symptoms have occurred together more than once in a persons life and it is the combination of severe depression with the mania that separates it from other illnesses. It is primarily a mood related disorder.

Some people theorize that the mania comes from the brain’s need to escape the severe depression. This problem is that someone in the Mania phase often get in a lot of trouble. Financially they can accumulate massive amounts of debt because of their inability to regulate their spending or ability to rationalize. They are also more prone to broken relationships, criminal and illegal activities during this phase. They are at risk during times of mania.

Bipolar disorder is often described as being on a roller coaster of extreme emotion. They feel happiness and sadness beyond the proportion of what would be expected of someone who does not have this disorder.

They may laugh when they hear a loved one dies or cry when a commercial comes on TV. They may become irrationally angry about something that others see as slight and inconvenient.

There are several things to consider when dealing with the psychology of a person who has committed a crime. Were they in a temporary state of irrational behavior? Did the behavior exhibited during a crime define their everyday behavior or was it uncharacteristic of them? In legal terms this is consider “temporary insanity.” It isn’t a medical definition, but it is a term for some legal “wiggle” room in defense cases.

Whatever the evaluation about Heather Kamp reveals, it is important to remember that certain illnesses can be treated with medication and therapy. Unfortunately, for Kate Waring there will be no such opportunities. This is where the law will separate the mental illness from the crime. If it were only forgery or obstruction, perhaps there would be some leniency or provisions for psychological disturbance. However, the responsibility of the law mandates that justice be served for the victim. Whatever Heather Kamp’s alleged part in the crime is, it is unclear whether or not she is even competent to stand trial until the evaluation is revealed.

2009 -A conviction of murder after a couple met on mocospace.com

Written by Mona
Thursday, 25 February 2010 10:05

In April 2009, Allen Ray Andrade, 31, of Colorado was convicted of First Degree murder with no chance of parole after being convicted of the murder of Justin "Angie" Zapata. The court also deemed the murder as a "hate crime" based on the facts of the case. Other charges were added to the case and he was found guilty of those things as well.

Allen R. Andrade Andrade was arrested in the Denver suburb of Thornton, where he lives. Police responding to a noise complaint found him in Zapata's 2003 PT Cruiser, which had been missing. After more investigating Andrade told authorities that he met a young woman named Angie Zapata (in the picture posted on the left) on a social website called mocospace.com. He said that he and Zapata had exchanged several messages and shared photos of each other.

Mocospace is a social community that is comparable to "myspace" for cell phone users. It has individual pages and the ability to post picture, create backgrounds, chat with other members and leave comments on a friend's page. It's ability to bring together people through the use of a cell phone is not completely unique.

There are other sites that have been created for the same purpose. However, mocospace is increasing it's reaches into other areas to draw a larger group of interested users. Using the the cell phone for the web is easy to do if your cell phone plan has a data plan added. Once you create your account you can be just about anyone that you want to be and some people find that to be completely acceptable.

The chance meeting of Angie Zapata and Allen Andrade came to a gruesome end on July 17, 2008.  Andrade told authorities that he and Angie agreed to get together after exchanging contact over several days, according to an arrest affidavit released by Greeley police. The two met July 15 and spent the day together.

Andrade told investigators that Zapata performed oral sex on him but wouldn't let him touch her, according to the affidavit.

He said he also spent the night at Zapata's apartment, but in separate beds. The next day, Zapata left Andrade alone in her apartment, and Andrade noticed several photographs that led him to question Zapata's gender.

Andrade confronted Zapata when she got back. Zapata answered: "I am all woman."

He grabbed Zapata's crotch area, felt male genitalia and became angry, the affidavit states. He took a fire extinguisher off a shelf and struck Zapata twice in the head, telling investigators he thought he "killed it." "It" was not dead however, Andrade told investigators. Andrade said he covered Zapata with a blanket and started gathering evidence he thought might link him to the crime when he heard gurgling sounds and noticed Zapata was sitting up. That's when he picked up the fire extinguisher and hit her again, police said. He left the scene in her sister's PT cruiser.

Justin's body was bloodied and battered. A gruesome sight according to investigators.

He admitted that he felt deceived and tricked. He said his reaction was unplanned and out of rage. He disagreed that it was a hate crime although he continued to refer to Justin as an "it". The public defender in his case said that Andrade was tricked. The defender went on to say that Andrade had not solicited a man and that he truely thought he was meeting a woman. When he found out differently -- http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/23/us/23transgend.html

"Angie, she was a fun-loving young woman who was taken from us far too early," said Crystal Middlestadt, director of training and education for the Colorado Anti-Violence Program. Middlestadt is working with Zapata's family.

The Colorado Anti-Violence Program condemned the crime as possibly motivated by an anti-transgender bias.

Zapata's sister, Monica, was quoted in a press release from the Colorado Anti-Violence Program as saying,

"We want to let everyone be aware that all she wanted was to be beautiful. We want this violence to end. Transgender people deserve to be treated with respect."

“Justin Zapata lived like a female, looked like a female, sounded like a female,” said one defense lawyer, Annette Kundelius. “That’s what Mr. Andrade believed. And when he found it wasn’t Angie, it was actually Justin, he lost control.”

UPDATE - Unanswered questions in the Katherine Waring Case

Written by The Content Czar
Saturday, 23 January 2010 10:30
UPDATE

content czar The death of the attractive, single woman in South Carolina, Katherine Waring, has had no new evidence emerge due to an Oct. 13 gag order issued by Circuit Judge Markley Dennis. The order was issued after the Charleston Police Department confiscated the personal belongings of a private detective hired by the Waring family. The private investigator had found skeletal remains on Wadmalaw Island. The remains were later determined to be those of the missing Katherine Waring who was last seen in July.

The feuding between the Private Investigators and Charleston P.D were settled discreetly behind closed doors and that is where everything else about the case has continued to stay. However, the case of Katherine Waring was in the Top 10 list of 2009 on Live5news in Charleston, S.C. The public, thus the media, wants to know… WHAT HAPPENED TO KATE? And WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW?

The Post and Courier (Charleston, SC) reported on November 19, 2009 that the attorneys waive rights to preliminary hearings. More details were expected to emerge Tuesday during preliminary hearings for three suspects accused of hindering the police investigation into her disappearance and death. The proceedings, however, were canceled after defense attorneys waived their right to the hearings, which are held to determine probable cause in criminal cases, authorities said.

The Post and Courier also said, The gag order applies to everyone involved in the case, including witnesses and the victim's family. Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson requested the gag order with the consent of defense attorneys, citing the potential for the case to receive "substantial local media coverage and additional national media coverage." Statements made outside of court could jeopardize "the fair administration of justice," attorneys asserted.”

In what extreme situation should a Judge order the complete silence of everyone involved with a case?

The Post and Courier went on to say, “Such sweeping gag orders are somewhat rare in local criminal cases, and one open-records law expert questioned whether the order would hold up on appeal.”

The Post and Courier, “Jay Bender, an attorney for the South Carolina Press Association, said the judge likely has the authority to impose restrictions on lawyers involved in the case, but he is on rockier legal ground in trying to muzzle the coroner, police and the family. "It's extremely unusual," he said.”

Protecting the integrity of the case and the witnesses involved is understandable. However, there are too many questions and too many opportunities for speculation. One of the more sought after answers in the case is- HOW did Kate Waring die?

Other questions that remain unanswered are understandably too delicate to publicize. For example, who is the unknown source? Obviously, their identity is being withheld for their protection and for the least amount of contamination to the case. They are being protected for the moment.

The allegations that have been made based on the testimony of the “source” have led to more questions.  Who had so much information to give to investigators? They knew where Kate’s body was located. They knew who moved it, they were able to tell authorities that Kate’s iPod was given to Terry Williams as payment for helping move Waring’s body and they knew who delivered the iPod (Kamp) and on whose orders.(Mack) Did they also know HOW she died?

With so much partial information and the unnamed witness, why are the three people of interest Williams, Kamp and Mack being held for “Obstruction of Justice” instead of Murder or Manslaughter? In one article, it was stated they were arrested for her murder and in another, it said they were being investigated IN CONNECTION with her murder. The only official charges at this time are Obstruction of Justice and Forgery.

When facts are left out of a story is becomes fiction. When blanks are left in a sentence, it’s a natural inclination to fill in the blanks.

As an example, “The __________ cat ran across the street, startling the __________ who nearly hit a ___________.”

Did you conclude that it was a “black cat” that ran across the street, startling the “old lady” who nearly hit a “curb”? You could be correct. Or it could be that it was an “injured cat” that ran across the street, startling the “motorist” who nearly hit a “child”.

When you leave blanks, ANY answer is acceptable until a fact is inserted. The fact has to be proven to be true. It has to precede any false beliefs, misconceptions, theories, speculation and rumors that have been taken to heart and applied as “the truth”. The power of suggestion can be a remarkably powerful tool.

The imagination, curiosity and speculation of what “could be” are greatly increased when it remains such a big mystery. The integrity of the case can be questioned simply because eventually there will be a jury selection. A jury of their peers will come from within the community.

The community has been bombarded with rumors and partial truths. To apply anything or suggest something in the face of uncertainty is the same as inserting “your own” answers. To repeat it as the truth because it seems plausible and you find yourself comfortable believing it -doesn’t make it the truth.

Even someone who has knowledge of an individual’s past behavior doesn’t necessarily mean they can predict the future behaviors of that individual. Even if it’s only a 1 in 100 percent chance, there is still a chance that they are wrong. No amount of obscure insight or baseless assumptions is worth the integrity of the truth.

Lies are hard to disprove once the lie has taken residence in the heart and mind of the person hearing it. The truth can be just as evasive and tricky. Is it based on a person’s perspective or is it based on more than that?

In the case of Katherine Waring and the uncomfortable silence that continues to keep the public in the dark, curiosity and questions are the only things available. The need for ANY answer will jeopardize the integrity of truth once it is revealed. Shadows of doubt will remain after the unnecessary and prolonged suspense ends. O.J Simpson was acquitted of the crime of murder, but his name was never erased as the murderer in the public’s mind.

More questions about Kate’s addictions, her D.U.I, her need for daily medication and the childhood incident that she never got over. Did her past addictions come back? Did they ever leave her or was she always plagued with the desire to participate occasionally?  Faced with questions of this nature is it reasonable to ask if Kate could have overdosed that night?

Is that why there are no official murder charges? Did it happen in the company of her companions that night? The colorful characters with checkered past. Did these companions have self-preservation in mind? Was the thought of explaining themselves to authorities more than they wanted to deal with? Did they unceremoniously move the body of Waring to a place they couldn’t be associated with and then leave her?

Why would anyone dump the body of a young woman in the woods? Did they feel no responsibility? Which brings us once again to the unknown source, why were they so fearlessly able to tell investigators everything? Perhaps, it isn’t without fear. Now that the rumor mill has begun, with so many unanswered questions and speculations, we have to come back to the question once more. How will Charleston find a suitable jury?

Will they be sequestered in order to keep the public and media from getting any information? Will the potential jurors be able to disregard preconceived notions without tainting their ability to listen and take in the pieces of information without bias?

How much effort is going into the background of the three people being held on Obstruction of Justice charges? Are they absolutely certain they have the right people? Is it a possibility that Kate’s choices of friends, the accused, are being scrutinized too harshly?

Heather Kamp, Terry Williams and Ethan Mack aren’t among the social elite. They do not have memberships to private country clubs, they aren’t “new money” or “old money” and they could not be classified as the “influential” types. In fact, they would be considered by the social elitists as “low class”. Using the term “from the wrong side of the tracks” is putting it mildly in this case.

Unfortunately, addiction and driving while intoxicated does not have social boundaries. How often Kate got behind the wheel of the car while intoxicated is unknown. Her mom’s description of Kate’s “courageous battle” with an addiction was put on the website http://www.bringkatehome.com. She said her daughter was “like so many others”. Is it possible that Kate’s battle was ongoing and like so many others, she had her moments of weakness?

Why did Kate’s friend disregard her call that night? He looked at the phone and chose not to answer it. He didn’t get her voicemail until the following day. Was Kate like many other addicts and alcoholics who have a tendency to “drunk dial” in search of anyone who will pick up the phone?

Was she always asking others for rides to and from places due to her driving situation? Had she become such an inconvenience that her friend avoided her and by doing so missed an opportunity to spare Kate’s life? If he hadn’t ignored her call that fateful night is it possible that Kate would have told him her location and who she was with at the time.

I questioned whether or not there is a remote possibility that Kate’s friends are being scrutinized for being from the wrong side of the tracks. However, it would seem that if Ethan Mack had cashed several checks from Katherine Waring in the past that there would be no need in forging a check. Why didn’t he just wait for Kate to sign the check? Unless, of course, he knew that Kate was never going to be writing any more checks.

I remain puzzled at the Obstruction of Justice charge. The unnamed witness gave so many details. “Moving a body” implies death has already occurred. So where was she moved from? Why risk moving a body at all? When did they come in contact with her iPod? When did they take her checkbook and what did they do with the remaining checks if only one was stolen?

Why did Heather Kamp tell the Authorities that she and Mack had not told the truth when they were first asked about the night that Kate disappeared?

She gave them a new version but no one knows yet what it was. Three accused and one witness, a witness with very specific details. Is one of the three the unnamed source? Did Ethan Mack cut a deal with the D.A in exchange for the truth about what really happened that night? Why did Kamp and Mack apply for a marriage license but never follow through? Did Heather Kamp go to the authorities to tell them they had lied because Mack didn’t marry her?

William’s claimed the iPod that belonged to Kate Waring was give to him by Heather Kamp. He claimed it was in return for all of the cigarettes and food he had bought for her. Was she Mack’s girlfriend at the time? Did Ethan Mack not care that another man was taking care of his girlfriend? How did Heather Kamp meet Terry Williams and Ethan Mack? Mack claimed to have been friends with Kate Waring for a very long time. Before the gag order, his family said Kate often visited the house and had dinner.

How did Heather Kamp feel about Mack’s friendship with the attractive Waring? With Heather Kamp’s record of deceiving and manipulating to find and keep love, was she threatened by Kate? Did her past relationship with a particular man (who told her that he was only friends with a woman and later admitted to being in love with the same woman) play any role in her feelings toward Kate Waring and Ethan Mack’s friendship?

Why did Heather Kamp not have representation in court the day bond was set? When the Judge asked her about her “not appearing” before the court when ordered to, Kamp said she had always appeared in court when she was supposed to. Why did she lie to the Judge? The warrant for her arrest was for “failing to appear”.

The text messages that Kate told her father about were threatening. Waring’s father told authorities that Kate said she wanted to distance herself from Mack and his girlfriend. After Ethan Mack’s arrest, he told the authorities that after he returned Waring to her home that she had called him. He said, “She told me that she showed the police the text that she sent.” What “she” was Kate referring to when she said that? What was Mack’s point in saying that to the authorities?

Did Heather Kamp send those text messages to Kate Waring? It would not be Kamp’s first time to send unfriendly text messages to a woman who was friends with her boyfriend.  However, even with Kamp’s temper, none of her crimes appears to be related to violence.

Regardless of Kamp’s former “possessive” nature, is she capable of killing? Is Kamp the unnamed source? Under what extreme circumstances and in what situation would she betray the man she loves to the authorities? She has lied to boyfriends in the past. She has betrayed boyfriends, but it was often when she realized there was no hope left. She knew the relationship was over.

"Substantial local media coverage and additional national media coverage." Statements made outside of court could jeopardize "the fair administration of justice," attorneys asserted.”--- Ninth Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson

What lies and what truths will the authorities have to sort through to find out what actually happened? The dragging out of this case, the delayed arrest, the lack of sufficient charges in comparison to the version of events given by the unnamed witness, the private investigators locating the remains instead of the police department. Are we to presume that none of those things will jeopardize the fair administration of justice?

Overall, there is doubt about whether the truth will be revealed. There is a fear of incompetency and a fear that errors will be made due to pride, self-centered heroism and insufficient evidence.

It takes a great deal of humility to self evaluate and admit if someone else is better for a particular job. I sincerely hope that people in the Waring case have taken inventory of their capabilities. I hope the judge reconsiders the gag order. The public attention and the anticipation for answers are the only stated reason for the gag order. Meanwhile the facts are slowly being butchered by the suspense and the speculation that the gag order is creating.

The public is waiting for the truth to be brought to light. As far as the public is concerned, we are still in the wooded, gated community on Wadmalaw Island.  We are still with Kate on her last dark night – and it seems endless. Until the gag order is lifted, Kate is still being silenced. She is still alone in the dark. The trio in jail is innocent until proven guilty by a court of law. Neither the local media nor attention from the National media has the power to convict them without a judge, jury, proof of a crime and evidence substantiating it. However, the media does have the right to serve the public. We do have right to freedom of speech. The public does have the right to be given factual stories. It’s called, “News” and it serves a purpose.

Kate Waring’s story has the right to be heard. The cause of death and the possibility of more charges being added are not going to jeopardize the case. The public would like to know, why is Kate being silenced?

Foreword: As a young adult just getting ready to leave High School and enter the world, I had several teachers who believed strongly that I should pursue my writing abilities. One teacher in particular left me with kind words. I was about to exit her classroom for the final time when she asked me to stay for a moment. She said, “I believe that one day, I will be passing by a bookstore and look inside to see a book that you have written. She paused and smiled before continuing to say, “I will say, I knew her. She was one of my students.” It was with her guidance that I took my first paying job at the age of 17, as a writer, for a local newspaper called the TimesDaily. Why would I bring up something about me when the title is clearly not about me? I understand the most basic concepts of writing for the news. I learned at an early age. I acknowledge and abide by the necessity of an unbiased, factual article. Removing yourself and keeping your own personality, thoughts, opinions and feelings out of the subject was an area that I had to watch closely or a small problem could develop. Too many adjectives and you may expose an unnecessary point of view, your own. I made the choice to stay out of newspaper journalism. However, I have put my “journalist cap” back on and decided to research and follow the story of the Katherine P. Waring murder.

It is no coincidence that I would have curiosity about this case. The woman charged with Obstruction of Justice and Forgery, Heather Angelica Kamp, is a person that I knew from a website. She is a person whom I have spoke with on the phone and chatted with on websites. Only known then as, “Angelica”, she was introduced to me through a friend of mine. Although I am acquainted with Kamp, I never met her in person. I will provide links to my sources. The only unverifiable things I have to offer are my own private conversations with Heather Angelica Kamp. I did not record them. There are no written letters or documents. I cannot offer those things as evidence and I considered leaving them out of this article based on that. However, I have decided against it and I am including them.

My conversations were very similar to conversations she had with many other people. That will be my validation should any of them choose to come forward and say, “She told me the same things.” “Angelica” Heather Angelica Kamp has had several stories surrounding her since the time I became acquainted with her in early 2006. Many of the stories came from Angelica herself. Strangers on the internet that she might someday meet or perhaps would not, knew that she was either a pathological liar or a person desperately seeking attention. I do not know if Heather Kamp knows the difference between the fantasies she creates or the truth. I am not sure if she can distinguish between the two.

To help you understand I have listed some of the things Angelica told me: •She claimed she was a Registered Nurse. •She claimed she worked and raised her three children as she went to school. •She claimed she was a cancer survivor. •She claimed she was a computer hacker who had the ability and software to decode passwords and hi-jack people’s account information. •She claimed she had two miscarriages. •She claimed she was pregnant (by our mutual friend). •She claimed she had a miscarriage with the pregnancy. •She claimed she had lied and the baby was alive. •She claimed to have had a deceased child from another pregnancy with a different man. •She claimed she had a child that lived with relatives. •She made claimed the birth certificate and death certificate were denied by the State because the State had lost them. •She claimed to have a husband in Utah who owned his own company. •She claimed a man named “Max” was her friend turned fiancé. •She claimed to have connections with the FBI •She asked me to go to the FBI with her and lie for her and she would return the favor. •She claimed she was victimized, assaulted and raped. •She claimed she was stalked, threatened and told that her baby (if she had been pregnant) was going to be sent to Germany and raised as the Anti-Christ. •She offered me a new phone as a gift if I would meet her at a nearby mall and have lunch. I declined. •She offered me another gift if I would bring my children to meet her, her children and her friend “Max”. I declined. I declined on more than one occasion. She seemed too pushy and I was not comfortable with the idea. I did not feel threatened or in some type of danger. I simply felt uncomfortable receiving a gift from her or meeting her. She stopped asking and no longer pressed the subject.

The other pieces of information that I have without links or documentation are from the friend who met her. I had not met our mutual friend at the time either. He was a person with similar interest and sense of humor as mine. Our friendship grew and we were able to comfortably exchange details about our lives. During that time in his life, he said that he was having some issues with the strange and unnecessary lies his girlfriend, Heather Angelica Kamp, would tell him. “Angelica” was persistent in her claims about children who were living and a child who has died. She often told him stories that made no sense and he said that it baffled him. He offered her several opportunities to be honest and tell the truth he said. He said he had even offered a chance for the past to remain the past and to have a fresh start if she would be honest and “come clean” about the stories she had told. She seemed incapable. They went their separate ways for a while but after a few months, she came back around and said that she had lied about a few things. To what extent and degree he did not say. However, as things progressed, the same tendencies emerged within a few weeks and he gave up trying to understand why she persisted in obvious deceptions and stories that held no truth. By the time everything was completely over between the two of them. She had done irreparable damage. She must have known that the relationship was completely over between them because she stole his personal items out of his apartment. She took everything down to a can of air freshener. She also accused him of crimes, harassed him in front of children, threatened him and told him and others (myself included) that the FBI was involved. She stole and forged a check, stole his TV and several items of clothing. The police were involved but they were looking for her. With his assistance, the police were able to locate her.

That incident is one of the charges listed among her “crimes in the Midwest”. She had several aliases and a vagabond lifestyle. With each move there seemed to be new stories, old ones recycled and a change in name and “profession”. She seemed to create character’s that are always with her. The characters and friends she has created do not seem to exist. It was recently told to me that she was often homeless. Her theft and reason for taking money from others did not serve to provide her with housing but she would buy items to further the lie. To give proof that she was an RN she bought scrubs and a stethoscope. Although she had no residence, it was more important to buy items to make the lie believable.

I personally had not heard the name “Angelica” in several months. It had been over a year and a half if not more since I knew anything about her at all. Her name nearly disappeared from conversations. The exception to that was when her name was mentioned in reference to the ordeal my friend had endured. She no longer made appearances on any of the websites I was on and not many people knew her whereabouts. Then two days ago, I clicked on a link. I read the headline: CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - A couple charged with the murder of a Charleston woman applied for a marriage license nearly two weeks before their arrest, but they apparently never went through with it. A document filed in Charleston County Probate Court states 29-year-old Ethan Mack and 31-year-old Heather Kamp applied for a marriage license. The application's date is Sept. 25.

Katherine P. Waring case,Charleston,South Carolina Missing Person,Heather A. Kamp After my surprise of seeing her as one of the last people to see Katherine P. Waring alive, I decided to Google the name. I found the following article from the Intelligencer Journal in Lancaster, PA.

Tim Stuhldreher Lancaster, PA "A woman was so intent on falsely passing herself off as a pediatrician that she drew blood from her boyfriend's 6-year-old niece and recommended medical treatments, Ephrata police said Wednesday.

Angelica Kamp, 29, was charged Wednesday with simple assault and unauthorized practice of medicine for pricking the child's finger for a blood sample Feb. 27 at an acquaintance's house in Ephrata, police said. Kamp was baby-sitting the girl at the time. Police do not know Kamp's whereabouts. She was arrested in March in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and gave police an Ephrata address, but they released her and she disappeared before Ephrata police could seek extradition.

Kamp does not have a medical degree, but does have "a series of convictions for crime involving deception and robbery in multiple states," according to a police news release.

Kamp reportedly had an ongoing relationship with the 6-year-old and her parents, who live in Temple, north of Reading in Berks County. Kamp gave medical advice to the parents, who believed for some time she was a doctor, Ephrata police Lt. Chris McKim said. Kamp told the parents the girl needed blood tests and said she would forward the sample to a lab, police were told. The family thought the procedure would be done at a medical office.

The evening of Feb. 27, Kamp pretended she had received a call from the lab with the test results. She told the family the tests showed the girl had bipolar disorder and low calcium, McKim said. The family put the girl on calcium supplements, and Kamp promised to arrange for a mental health evaluation, he said. "She was trying to say the young girl 'has bipolar' based on this blood test," McKim said. The evaluation apparently did not take place.

The child's parents continued to believe Kamp's lies for some time after the incident, police said. However, they became suspicious after they could not find her credentials online. Kamp told them that was because she was enrolled in the federal Witness Protection Program to escape an abusive ex-husband, McKim said. The parents contacted police soon after.

In March, Kamp traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with her boyfriend, the girl's uncle. The family contacted Myrtle Beach police, and Kamp was arrested March 24 at the Polynesian Motel on parole violations from Illinois and Indiana, according to newspaper records there. Those states declined to extradite, however, and Kamp was released a few days later.

The Ephrata investigation was incomplete at that time, McKim said. The girl's uncle left Myrtle Beach after the arrest and has not had contact with Kamp since, police said. Police offered no indication Kamp sought money. McKim could offer no motive for the alleged blood test apart from a desire to make a deception more credible. McKim said he was unaware of any ill effects suffered by the 6-year-old as a result of Kamp's actions.

Kamp's aliases include "Heather Conely," "Heather Uphoff" and "Heather Walker," police said. Her acquaintance at the Ephrata house where the blood allegedly was drawn was not involved and does not face charges, McKim said."

It was the quintessential and familiar story of Angelica Kamp. The article is an example of her behavior. Kamp’s willingness to deceive is baffling because it seems illogical and needless. It also showed that her mode of operation had not changed. After her arrest and release, her boyfriend left Myrtle Beach. It’s not clear where Angelica Kamp went or what she did for several months. I could not find any news articles after March of 2009. Her next crime given any media attention is in the link above. The mystery of the missing Katherine P. Waring unfolds, it becomes obvious that Angelica has found herself in something much more serious than the illegal things she has done in the past.

Kather P. Waring,Axis of Stevil Show,http:theaxisofstevilshow.com,Angelica Walker,Angelica Uphoff,Angelica Conely,Heather Angelica Kamp On June 12, 2009 Katherine Waring’s last known activities were tracked. She had a doctor’s appointment that day, she saw her father around 6:30 pm, she went to the gym, went to a CVS pharmacy and then to dinner with two friends.

Katherine P. Waring case

Katherine Waring had a D.U.I pending and her driver’s license was suspended. Her father told authorities that she had problems that related to a childhood problem. According to Waring’s father, she had received text messages two weeks before she went missing that said, “If you caused this to happen, you will be the first to die” and another that commented on what she was wearing when she arrived home one night, as if someone were watching her.

Her father told the Authorities that she took medication daily. On the website created for Katherine Waring, her mother wrote, “Like many people, Kate has fought a personal battle with substance abuse—and I have always been awestruck by how courageously she met this challenge head-on, with the love and support of her family.”

Her last phone call was made to a friend named, Jason Luck, who said he looked down and saw who was calling and did not answer the phone. In fact, he did not hear the voice message that she left until the following day. The call came in at 10:06 pm.

The two people that she had dinner with said they dropped her off at her parent’s home where she resided. No one could verify that Katherine actually ever came home that night. A few days later, Heather Angelica Kamp, was once again a person of interest to the police and so was her boyfriend, Ethan Carlos Mack.

Ethan Carlos Mack,Katherine P. Waring case,Heather Angelica Kamp,Suspect Arrested Mack claimed that not only did they drop off Katherine Waring after dinner but also he said he had received a phone call from her afterwards. He said she told him, “I showed the police the messages she sent.”

Mack and Kamp forged a $4,500 check and tried cashing it three days after Waring was last seen alive. Forensic investigators were able to identify the check as forged after Bank of America denied Mack the money. Mack was driving a silver Malibu with Georgia license plates. Mack is reported as saying that Katherine Waring often wrote checks to him. He said the money was owed to him and his girlfriend (Kamp) for jewelry.

Katherine Waring disappeared June 12, 2009 after meeting Kamp and Mack at a Japanese Steak House. They both gave statements that she had been dropped off by them at or around 11:30 to 11:45 pm after dinner. In the weeks following Waring’s disappearance, an anonymous tip came in to search for a body. Authorities called off the search after hours of looking but finding nothing. The only tip they had came from an anonymous source other than that, they had no leads.

On September 25, 2009, Angelica and Ethan applied for a marriage license. The two did not get married but on September 28 Angelica Kamp went to the investigators and told them that the first statement given in June had been a lie. The recounted story and events of that night are not revealed in the affidavit. On October 7, 2009, Mack, Kamp and later in the month a third person Terry Williams was arrested for Obstruction of Justice.

Terry Williams,Ethan Mack,Heather A. Kamp,Katherine P. Waring case Terry Williams was arrested for Obstruction of Justice. Investigators hired by the family of Waring found Katherine’s body on October 10, 2009. The investigators invited the police to search the area after receiving an anonymous email, but the police decline. Investigators decided to go and look at the site themselves. The details seemed too precise to overlook. The investigators dialed 911 after uncovering skeletal remains of a body. Dental records identified the body found as that of Katherine Waring. Ethan Mack and Heather Kamp were charged with Forgery and Obstruction of Justice as well.

During the bond hearing, Katherine’s mother spoke to Mack and Kamp. It was reported that at one point during the mother’s speech that Angelica looked away with tears in her eyes but continued to listen. Heather Angelica Kamp and Ethan Carlos Mack each received a 100,000 bond. Katherine Waring’s phone and credit cards were not used again after her disappearance.

The I-Pod found in Terry William’s possession was identified as that of Waring’s. He told authorities that he had received it as a gift from Kamp for giving her food and cigarettes and did not know that it belonged to Waring until he saw her name on the back of it two months later.

The anonymous witness who will be named later according to affidavits said that Terry Williams had received the I-Pod as payment for loading Waring’s deceased body into the trunk of a car with the help of Ethan Mack. Mack then instructed Heather Kamp to give Williams the I-Pod as a way of thanking him for his assistance.

The coroner said that the cause of death will take longer because working with skeletal remains makes it more difficult. Unfortunately, after the police took possession of an investigator’s vehicle and personal items a lawsuit was filed and a gag order was put on the police department.

The Attorney in the case said that they had worked out an agreement and that the property was returned to the investigator. All authorities involved are seeking the same thing, justice and clarification as to what exactly happened to Katherine Waring. Questions as to how Katherine Waring died and where are unanswered for now.

Freedom is not passed onto our children through the bloodstream...

Written by Content Czar

"Freedom is only one generation away from extinction. It is not passed onto our children through the bloodstream. It is fought for, defended and given to them to do the same." -- Ronald Reagan

Last week as many of you already know President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for... ? Well, as we discussed on the show Sunday, October 11th 2009, It was for absolutely nothing. His acceptance speech went along with the general opinion of all those who heard the announcement. Obama said, "To be honest, I don't feel like I deserve it." Congratulations President Obama.. You finally said something that I can completely agree with. Which brings me to the things that I can not bring myself to overlook or not bring up here today. I am offended by the amount of humilation that has been brought upon our great nation since Obama has become the President. The lack of efficiency, the weak posture and the deliberate attempts to appease nations who DO NOT have our best interest at heart. It makes me wonder... Does HE have our best interest at heart? How can he? Where are these changes that was so important to his campaign?  Remember the slogans? It was all about "Changing the way things were done".. out with the "OLD" and IN with the new! it was full of "HOPE and PROMISE"... Yes, I remember. In my mind I couldn't help but think to myself. "Its clever.. Feed the sheep with dreams until the wolf devours them in their sleep."  Pre-dawn hours on October 4th in an Outpost at the base of two mountains in Afghanistan and our troops were raided by hundreds of insurgents who were killed and injured. What has been our President's response to this? According to top officials, President Obama's lastest thinking in the Afghan war is that the US will eventually have to back off of its emphasis on destroying the Taliban and allow the group to become involved in the political process. WHAT? The DAY BEFORE he claimed that the "Biden Option" was completely off the table. If you did not know, the Vice President, Joe Biden has reportedly said that the war in Afghanistan is no longer worth the effort and he's advocation MORE scaled back goals and would like to refocus attacks on the Pakistani border. The New York Times has reported a growing support for the "Biden Option". And since President Obama speaks out of BOTH sides of his mouth. He too has gone from one direction to another in a matter of 24 hours. I suppose that allowing the Taliban to join into the political process would be no differently than all of Obama's other failed attempts at standing up to terrorist.
