Introducing The EntreCast Drop List
For those of you who are familiar with EntreCard, you know it is a great way to promote your blog. It can, however, be a bit of a drag trying to max out your credits every day. That is why the drop list came along, making it quicker and easier to complete the task. There are problems, however, with a drop list too. First of all, if you have a slower computer or connection, it is not really an option to open ten links at once. Also, the intention of the service is to promote your blog. If everyone is clicking, dropping, and moving on, then what is really being promoted? Having faced both of these issues, I decided to make a drop list that solves them.
If you are going to promote your site, then you want people to take a minute to check out your latest article. If the focus is dropping as many cards as possible, they won't be doing that. That's why EntreCast gives you 5 different Blog Talk Radio shows to listen to while you drop cards. By adding the podcasts to the list, it encourages droppers to slow down, enjoy the show, and check out some articles while they drop. Furthermore, I have listed the sites under categories to allow droppers to find sites that are of interest to them.
The other problem wasn't easy to fix, but I was able to find a solution. As a trucker, I am dependent on wireless internet. While I usually have a high speed connection, sometimes I am in an area where a slower connection or wifi are the only option. That's why I used ShareTabs to create the drop list. Clicking on a category opens a new tab in your browser that will give you a screen-shot of the ten sites in that list. If you have a high speed connection, there is a link that will allow you to open all ten tabs at once. If you are on a slower connection or computer, you will see a row of tabs in the top of your browser window that will allow you to open the sites one at a time.
I hope that you will give this new drop list a try, and if you like it and would like your site added to it, feel free to comment me here or send me an email. Also, feel free to add our link back to the drop list by choosing the appropriate image for your EntreCard widget and placing it below the widget on your page.
My Favorite Moment Of The Decade
I've been rummaging through some top stories of the decade to try to pick a favorite. CNN has a list of top ten tech stories. MSNBC tries to pick the best TV series of the decade. FOX has the best and worst politics of the decade. ESPN sorts out the decade's best. The Chicago Tribune picked Obama's election as the top story of the decade.

So, what will I pick as my top story of the decade? I'm a bit conflicted here. Half of me wants to hold out, and the other half has already decided. I'm going with the second half. So, without further ado...
The Axis Of Stevil Show's Top Story Of The Decade
How about the fact that every major media outlet in the Country seems to have no idea when a decade ends.
This is so basic as to make one wonder how it can go unnoticed. Our calendar goes from 01 B.C. to 01 A.D. hence, there is no "zero" year. Since a decade is ten years, the first decade ended on December 31st of year ten. So perhaps the runner up story would be the dumbing down of America to the point that even major news networks are either unaware of this fact or do not care. Some writers like to point out that since the common calendar starts from the year 1, its first full decade contained the years from 1 to 10, the second decade from 11 to 20, and so on. The interval from the year 2001 to 2010 could thus be called the 201st decade, using ordinal numbers.
To My Liberal Friends
A Wish For My Liberal Friends*
May you have a wonderful and fulfilling winter holiday season. May your celebrations, either religious or secular, be non offensive to those who celebrate differently. It is my hope that you find joy and comfort in gatherings that include those with whom you are close, without seeming exclusive to those who are unable to attend. May you partake in a feast of organic food that is not harmful to the environment and does not cause suffering to helpless animals. If your celebration includes the giving of gifts, may they be wrapped in re-usable materials that do not destroy trees nor contain harmful chemicals. For those who share our calendar, may your new year be rewarding and enriching, and may the latter not come at the expense of someone less wealthy.
*This wish is not guaranteed in any way. The wishee agrees to hold the wisher blameless in the case of any type of wish malfunction. Wish is non transferable. Wish is valid only in the Continental United States. This wish may not be disseminated without the expressed written consent of the wisher. Only the original wish will be honored. Irony Gone Wild
This is perhaps one of the funniest things I have ever seen. My last article was about polls showing that only 20% of the American people believed that President Obama was deserving of the Nobel Peace Prize. Little did I know that the funniest part of this story was yet to come. It seems that some controversy that does not involve the President has settled out of the Oslo ceremony. It seems that some people are upset about a comment by Toby Keith, a country music singer, being asked to perform at the Nobel Peace Prize concert. The anger seems to be directed at some of his songs, and the following statement he made.
“If President Obama has to send (more) troops into Afghanistan to fight evil, I’ll pull for our guys to win, and I won’t apologize for it. I’m an American, and I do pull for our team to fight evil.”

So let me see if I have this straight. People are angry with a performer at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony for supporting the efforts of the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. People are upset that the committee would invite a person to sing who supports President Obama's troop surge, but they are not upset that the same committee gave the award to the man who authored the troop surge that the singer praised.
This is a bit like the global warming Nazis getting in their private jets to fly out to Copenhagen to fight wasteful carbon emissions. One has to wonder how someone could be in the middle of such an activity without realizing what an idiot they are and just quitting and going home. For my part, I have no problem with Toby Keith singing at the concert. I furthermore have no problem with President Obama getting the award. The Nobel Peace Prize is a joke anyway. President Obama is certainly more deserving of the award than was Yasser Arafat. At least he hasn't done anything to... well, no need to elaborate. He hasn't done much of anything. President Obama acknowledged this himself in his acceptance speech.
And yet I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the considerable controversy that your generous decision has generated. In part, this is because I am at the beginning, and not the end, of my labors on the world stage. Compared to some of the giants of history who have received this prize – Schweitzer and King; Marshall and Mandela – my accomplishments are slight.
And then there are the men and women around the world who have been jailed and beaten in the pursuit of justice; those who toil in humanitarian organizations to relieve suffering; the unrecognized millions whose quiet acts of courage and compassion inspire even the most hardened of cynics. I cannot argue with those who find these men and women – some known, some obscure to all but those they help – to be far more deserving of this honor than I.
But perhaps the most profound issue surrounding my receipt of this prize is the fact that I....
...am the Commander-in-Chief of a nation in the midst of two wars. One of these wars is winding down. The other is a conflict that America did not seek; one in which we are joined by forty three other countries – including Norway – in an effort to defend ourselves and all nations from further attacks.
Still, we are at war, and I am responsible for the deployment of thousands of young Americans to battle in a distant land. Some will kill. Some will be killed. And so I come here with an acute sense of the cost of armed conflict – filled with difficult questions about the relationship between war and peace, and our effort to replace one with the other.
So why is it that this man would be chosen for such a high honor? Quite simply, he won it for the same reasons that former Vice President Al Gore won it. The award has turned into little more than a popularity contest. Receiving the award was once a great honor. Now, it is somewhere along the lines of winning class president at your local high school. So while it is unclear if the committee had hoped to influence Obama in his decision to send more troops into Afghanistan, or if they simply wanted to get on the bandwagon of hype that surrounded the President when he was nominated, it is clear that they failed miserably. Simply put, President Obama has authorized the troop surge, and is now losing popularity quicker than a boy band in their twenties. And all of this has left the moonbats out there to criticize a man who supported the man they came out to honor. Nobel Prize, rest in peace. This is one piece of metal that has become little more than a punch line to a bad liberal joke.
A Defense Of The New York Yankees
I want to start by congratulating the New York Yankees on their World Series victory. I would also like to point out (in the interest of full disclosure) that while I am a Chicago White Sox fan, I grew up in Connecticut and was a huge Yankees fan. To this day, the team has a special place in my heart, but head to head it's the White Sox any day. That having been said, I am absolutely outraged at the way the media has reacted to the Yankees 27th World Championship. The suggestion is that we need a salary cap in baseball to prevent teams like the Yankees from having an "unfair" advantage. This is absolutely ridiculous and I intend to prove it here.

Now, looking at this list, Yankee Hater will say "See, they have the highest payroll by far! That's why they won!" For a reality check, representing the American League last year in the World Series were the Tampa Bay Rays who come in at #25 on the list with a $63 million payroll. The Twins, who made the playoffs this year, rank right above them with a $65 million payroll. The Rockies and Cardinals also made the playoffs this year despite being 18 and 13 respectively on the list. So if a high payroll guarantees an entrance to the post season, someone should let the 2nd and 3rd highest payrolls know that they were robbed, as the Mets and Cubs didn't make it in. For a fact, 5 of the top 10 payrolls didn't make the playoffs. Of the 8 teams to make it in, four were in the top eight. By rank the remaining teams were 9, 13, 18, and 24.
